Bonaire is part of the Caribbean Netherlands in the territory known as the 'BES' islands (Bonaire, Saint Eustatius, Saba). It lies 30 miles from Curacao and 50 miles north of Venezuela.
It has the advantage of being outside the Caribbean hurricane belt and enjoys a delicious sunny climate, hence you can usually wear your flip flops, shorts and T-shirt all day. Al fresco dining included! Being just north of the equator Bonaire usually enjoys daylight for 12 hours. The atmosphere is laid back - almost to the point of lying horizontally - so leave your worries behind.
